Our Disaster Relief Leaders

Philip & Shari BostonChairmen
Philip and Shari Boston were both born and raised in Sylvania, Georgia. They got married in 1983 and now have two children and two grandkids. In addition to living in both Asia and Europe, they have traveled the world extensively interacting with people of diverse backgrounds. Their service in their communities and churches demonstrates their passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for serving others and fulfilling God’s mission. The couple has also participated in Disaster Relief Deployments in various roles and served as the hands and feet of Christ on numerous mission trips. Being involved in Disaster Relief provides a practical means for Philip and Shari to show the love of Christ in action to those whose lives have been shattered. They are thrilled to be leading Disaster Relief efforts at FBCHH.

A small, but growing group armed with chainsaws, shovels, meals, and the Gospel, the Disaster Relief Team is trained and ready to deploy through South Carolina Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams.”

Disaster Relief Item Collection

Our church is sending Feeding Teams with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief this week to Gaffney, SC. We will also be deploying Chainsaw Teams of volunteers in the coming weeks and probably months to assist in recovery. While only those who have been trained and certified with SBC DR can serve in those capacities, we have a way that anyone and everyone can plug in.

We have a very trusted member of our church who has connections with a fire department in Cashiers, NC which is serving as a staging area for the surrounding area in the collection and distribution of much-needed items in the recovery effort.

This couple will be leaving on Thursday morning, October 3 at 7 am. Collection times are Tuesday, 9am-5pm, or Wednesday, 9am-6pm. Drop-off location is the Family Life Center at the back of our property at 100 S Forest Beach Drive.
