2026 Internship Application
May 27 – August 3 Goal: 3 Students | Must have completed freshman year
The goal of this internship is to develop young leaders under the guidance of our staff to discover the gifts God has given them and know how to effectively use them in ministry. In addition to participating in staff meetings, mission trips, camps, and local outreach, students will be given the opportunity to hone in on their talents and choose to develop their skills in a specific area: media, worship, or pastoral ministry and student ministry through camps and VBS. Since we are the least-churched county in the state of South Carolina, this internship would be missional-focused across all ministry areas.

Residency Application
First Baptist HHI hosts residencies in the 10-18 month range, depending upon the ministry area and the resident’s specific need. Residency opportunities include the ministry areas of Church Planting, Pastoral Ministry, Worship Ministry, and Family Ministry. These residencies provide intentional training from experienced staff, personal discipleship, opportunities to be part of a healthy staff culture, and hands-on ministry experience.
These positions are supported by a partial salary, and residents are expected to raise a portion of their salary. Housing can be provided as needed.
Our Lead Pastor has 18 years of experience in ministry, including both in the established church and in church planting. Our two Associate Pastors have a combined ministry experience of 60 years across Worship, Associate, and Family Ministries.
Placement assistance is also provided for residents in more permanent ministry roles following the residency. First Baptist has an integral part of a church-planting movement in the SC Lowcountry, providing numerous opportunities for placement in church plants or ministry areas of church plants, as well as in several church revitalizations in the area. Our last Church Planting Resident launched a new church in the Bluffton, SC area, and is thriving in ministry. We would love to walk alongside other young ministry leaders as they discover God’s call on their lives!
Awana
Awana takes place at 6:30 PM in the Education Building. All children are welcome to join our Awana Clubs: Puggles for ages 2 – 4, Cubbies for ages 4 – 5, Sparks for grades 1 & 2, and T&T for grades 3 – 5. The registration fee is $35.00 for the first child and $25.00 for each additional child. Please pay through the link provided at the bottom of the registration page
