Kairos is an international ministry where volunteers, in cooperation with chaplains of correctional institutions, spend around 30 hours in small groups presenting the gospel and disciplining incarcerated prisoners and their families. Through baking and delivering cookies, Kairos provides a way of sharing the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to these prisoners. Twice a year, Ridgeland Baptist Church provides a training for those who feel led to serve in prison ministry.

If you do not feel led to serve by meeting these prisoners face-to-face, we have other opportunities where you can serve. One way you can help is by baking the cookies that these volunteers deliver to the incarcerated. In April and September, recipes will be made available for you to follow with the necessary instructions listed in order to comply with prison guidelines.

Another opportunity to love these prisoners is through prayer. Sign-up sheets will also be available in April and September for you to commit to praying for 30 minutes or more for these prisoners during the Kairos weekend. When you commit to prayer, Kairos volunteers put together a chain with each prayer warrior represented by each loop. When the prisoners see how many people are praying for them through this chain, they are more receptive to the gospel through the love they feel from these prayers.

Disaster Relief Training

Our church stays busy sending Feeding & Chainsaw Teams with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief to assist in recovery around the U.S. While only those who have been trained and certified with SBC DR can serve in those capacities, we have ways that anyone and everyone can plug in. We have trainings that we offer every year to those who are interested. The next training is listed below. Let us know if you signup for the training so that we can accommodate for travel.
