Sunday Mornings at FBCHHI
First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island is sometimes called the “Visitor’s Church” because of the myriad of visitors that come to vacation in Hilton Head Island and join us for worship. On any given Sunday, people in the congregation may be sitting beside a long time member, a newly joined member, a “Watchare” member who is only on the island for a few weeks of the year but regularly attends when they are on HHI, or a visitor from our local area, across the United States, or from overseas.
We welcome all who come to worship with us on Sunday mornings. Many visitors also attend our Sunday School/Bible Study classes the hour before worship. All of our teachers are accustomed to having visitors and do their best to make everyone feel welcome and included.
Prayer Time 8:00 AM
Sunday’s begin with a prayer time in our Family Life Center in Room #7. There are several faithful full-time members who meet there each Sunday morning. They pick up our weekly prayer list from the front desk and begin to pray at 8:00 AM, praying for God’s presence to be with our congregation during services and activities along with the prayer needs listed on our weekly prayer list. This is not an exclusive group and anyone is welcomed to join them who wants to begin Sunday with prayer.
Coffee Fellowship 9:00 AM
Right before the Sunday School time, our Family Life Center Multi-Purpose Room is the place to be for coffee, juice, and warm breakfast treats. Children and adults like this time for fellowship and visitors are more than welcomed to join us. If you are a new comer or visitor, this is a good place to find out about the different Sunday School classes that are available.
Sunday School 9:15 AM
Sunday School is a great way to begin forming friendships within the church. Sunday School is not just for children, and FBCHHI has some very strong Bible teachers. For adults, there are a variety of generically-aged classes to choose from with some specific styled classes – like a class for only women and a class for young families. Of course, there are classes for children and students. A listing of the all the classes, where they meet, what they study and the name of the teachers can be found under the Sunday School tab of our website. What is important to know is that all of our classes are open to all.
To find a class, come around 9:00 to the Family Life Center at the back of our property and someone will be seated at the desk who can help you find your place.
Children’s Church 10:30 AM
Babies through 2nd grade children are invited to the Children’s Building for Children’s Church. These children have their own worship time and also have other activities that enhance the stories of the Bible.
Our Children’s Ministry Director, Wendy Gudz, does a great job at leading your kids in an exciting, age appropriate, and safe environment. When you bring your children to check them in, a volunteer will briefly explain the check-in/check-out process that we use to keep your precious little ones safe.
Worship 10:30 AM
Worship takes place in our Sanctuary. Our worship is supported by music that reflects both traditional hymn styles and contemporary songs. The pastor brings the message from the Bible, making it relevant to our lives. We are always encouraged to share our faith in Christ with the world. Join us for worship and open your heart to the Word of God.
