 “The Friday 5”

A weekly announcement listing for First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island, SC

Friday, November 17, 2017

Thanksgiving is giving thanks to our Lord.

1. SERMON SERIES: THE FOUNDATION AND FUNCTION OF THE CHURCH, #10 “Satan’s Intrusion into the Church,” 1 Timothy 4:1-5

2. Poinsettias:  We will decorate our sanctuary with poinsettias again this holiday season. If you would like to purchase a poinsettia to be placed in honor or memory of someone, please complete the form in the bulletin or newsletter and return to the church office with payment ($10.00 each) by the deadline of Wednesday, December 6. The names will be listed in the December 10 worship service bulletin. Clearly mark your checks for “Poinsettias”.

3. Middle School Sunday School Class Fundraiser for Samaritan’s Purse

Our Middle School Sunday School class is trying to raise money to purchase a water filtration system for a family through Samaritan’s Purse. This water filter costs $100 and when the system gets installed, the Samaritan’s Purse volunteers also share the Gospel with the family. The Middle School Sunday School class will be hosting a Thanksgiving/Fall themed bake sale in the breezeway following the worship service today. We also hope to have some youth near the Sanctuary exits with baskets for donations as well. If they are able to raise over $100, the class has voted to purchase chickens ($14 provides a dozen chickens for a family, which in turn provides eggs to eat and sell) and/or a goat ($70). All the class is very excited about working together to help others in need and to help spread the Gospel message through the work of Samaritan’s Purse.

4. Happy Thanksgiving! No Wednesday Night Activities November 22.  All activities on Wednesday Night, November 22, are canceled due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The church offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24. Church offices will reopen Monday, November 27. Wednesday night activities will resume November 29.

5. Help Decorate the Church for Christmas - Come work off some of that holiday turkey meal by helping us decorate the church for Christmas on Saturday, November 25, beginning at 9:00 AM. Many hands make light work, and your hands and any amount of time you can be here will be very helpful. If you can help, call Paulette Gardner at 843-785-4478, or feel free to join us that morning.
