A weekly announcement listing for First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island, SC

"If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest." —Corrie ten Boom

1. This Sunday - Sermon: "Adopted with Christ’s Birth Rights," Ephesians 1:1-10

High Tide - Both Middle and High Schoolers will meet for High Tide Sunday Night at 5:00 PM in the Family/Student Building. We’ll serve dinner, enjoy some fun activities and share a devotion.

2. Rev. Brian Parker - Minister of Youth and Families - FBCHHI is pleased to announce that Rev. Brian Parker will be the new Minister of Youth and Families of First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island, beginning his ministry October 1st. Please pray for Brian, his wife Emily, and their children, as they begin making the transition, and also pray for Brian’s ministry here at FBCHHI.

On Sunday, October 7, we will hold a "Pounding" for the Parker family in the Family Life Center immediately following the morning worship service. Light refreshments will be served. This will be a great time to meet them if you have not had that opportunity.

So, what is a "Pounding"? In years past, new ministers were given items to help with setting up their household like a "pound" of flour, a "pound" of coffee, a "pound" of sugar, etc. In modern times, the "pounding" items are now cards of welcome, small gifts for housekeeping, or gift cards to local restaurants and establishments. We know these things would be helpful to this new family, so feel free to participate, if you are so led.

3. Children’s Ministry Opportunities

Children’s Church Volunteers, please come to training on Sunday, September 30, at 11:45 AM, in the Children’s Building, Room #4. Lunch will be provided. Please email Wendy at wgudz@fbchhi.org for more information and let her know you will attend.

Volunteers Needed - We have a wonderful problem! We are in need of more Sunday School and Children’s Church workers for our babies and toddlers rooms. Our children’s department is growing, especially the youngest children. Please pray about your decision to volunteer. You can volunteer on a rotating basis with either Children’s Sunday School or Children’s Church. Contact Wendy Gudz at wgudz@fbchhi.org or call 843-785-4478.

Good News Club - Good News Club is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship that partners with local churches to conduct Bible studies in elementary schools. We are recruiting volunteers for the Good News Club. It will be held at Hilton Head Prep’s Kindergarten room on Thursdays from 3:15 pm - 4:00 pm, 8 - 10 weeks in the fall and 8 - 10 weeks in the spring. We need roughly 8 - 12 volunteers. This program will begin in October. Training will be on Saturday, September 22, from 9:00 am -1:00 Noon. Please email Wendy at wgudz@fbchhi.org.

4. "Come On Down!" - The Women’s Connection Kickoff, has moved to Monday, October 8, at 6:00 PM. We’re serving a free meal in the Family Life Center and we’ll play some "Price is Right" Games with PRIZES, introduce our new Bible study, and tell newcomers about Women’s Connection groups. Please join us, even if you don’t plan to join Connection. It’s a great way to meet women of the church. Reservations are necessary. Complete the form on the tear-off portion of the bulletin or call Paulette Gardner at 843-785-4478 by Wednesday, October 3.

5. Communion - The Lord’s Supper will be served during the morning worship service on Sunday, October 7, 2018. If you sing in the choir, are a musician, a Children’s Church worker, or a Media Team worker, join us in the Music Suite at 10:00 AM that Sunday morning where we will have an early Communion Service for you so you can continue with your duties but not miss the Ordinance of The Lord's Supper.

Additionally:

Our church is working on a trip to assist Hurricane Florence victims the week of October 15 – 20, 2018. If you are interested, email your name, best phone contact number, and email address to lhopkins@fbchhi.org. Your name will be added to the list of those interested in making this trip and information will be sent to you when it is available.
